Growing
up in Kansas city, Beth straddled the classical world of her mother
and the jazz her father was so into, entwining marching band and
musicals with opera and smokey bars. After studying music in college,
she proceeded to start playing on street corners, moving up into
those same bars herself, and on to playing for thousands on festival
stages.
She's
fortunate to balance performance with teaching music and has taught
for over 20 years, including 7 years teaching English as a second
language (ok, that's not music, but it is teaching)
And
her performing continues to reflect her eclectic upbringing as she
moves from hillbilly rock n roll to jazz to singer/writer folk music,
from flute to tenor sax to fiddle.
