Beth Galiger started playing flute in 1969, adding 5 years of violin, 3 of oboe, 1 of sax and ongoing piano and guitar to the mix before studying classical flute at Wichita State University. From the very active youth orchestra The Super Bows to the church choir her mother directed, from every school and community band, orchestra jazz band and musical to the full jazz band she founded and managed after high school, music has dominated her life. Growing up in the vibrant jazz scene of Kansas City, she learned to improvise with the top jazz players in town at an early age.

Since moving to Austin in 1987 she has performed and recorded with Michael Elwood (with whom she toured for 6 years), Barb Donovan, Jimmy LaFave, Mandy Mercier, Shake Russell and Dana Cooper, Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) and many others. She currently plays flute, tenor sax, fiddle and harmony vocals in bands with Jon Emery, George Ensle and Bill Oliver in addition to playing frequently with Slim Richey and his Dream Band.

She has taught flute for over 20 years in private studios, music stores and schools. Now working primarily out of her South Austin studio she teaches all levels and styles of flute as well as beginning sax and fiddle. She has taught flute master classes at O. Henry, Fulmore, and Porter middle schools, Akins and Crockett high schools, and the Waldorf school. She taught the beginning flute class at Porter middle school for 3 years.
